Intimacy Coaching

Intimacy coaching is designed to help individuals and partners connect more deeply with themselves and others. Whether working one-on-one or with groups, I focus on enhancing your understanding of your own desires, needs, and boundaries. This journey enables you to cultivate and sustain more rewarding relationships. Unlike therapy, coaching emphasizes setting goals, living according to your core values, and finding resources to overcome challenges with support and accountability, rather than diagnosing and treating mental health conditions. In our sessions, we tackle challenges with curiosity and sometimes reflect on past experiences, but our main objective is to develop strategies and take actionable steps towards your specific desires and goals.

As your Intimacy Coach, I will provide:

  • A compassionate environment to explore questions about intimacy, desire, sexuality, health, and relationships.
  • Collaboration in defining needs, values, and goals, and ensuring your actions align with these principles.
  • Strategies for making changes and navigating challenges.
  • Techniques for enhancing connection, communication, and establishing healthy boundaries.
  • Education on pleasure-focused sexuality and consent.
  • Practices for increasing emotional and body awareness.
  • Support in exploring kink/BDSM, polyamory/non-monogamy, and conscious monogamy.

I am dedicated to helping you embark on a journey to build intentional, courageous, loving, and joyful connections.

Surrogate Partner Therapy (SPT)

Surrogate Partner Therapy (SPT) is a unique therapeutic approach where an individual works with both a clinician and a surrogate partner to address challenges in forming and maintaining healthy intimate relationships.

A surrogate partner serves as a stand-in partner. When traditional talk therapy alone does not effectively resolve relationship and intimacy issues, SPT can be an excellent alternative. There is a significant difference between understanding something intellectually and experiencing it firsthand. SPT combines experiential learning with traditional therapy to enhance opportunities for growth and change. By engaging a surrogate partner, a secure environment is provided to practice healthy relationships and their various aspects. The aim is to teach and practice relational skills while fostering experiences of safety and acceptance.

SPT is based on the effective techniques for treating sexual dysfunction developed by Masters and Johnson during their pioneering research. They discovered that hands-on therapeutic exercises performed by the partners of individuals with sexual dysfunction significantly increased treatment success rates. However, they also recognized that partners, even when present, might not be able to perform this complex work. Consequently, in 1973, the International Professional Surrogates Association (IPSA) was established to train surrogate partners in these proven methods, and the field has continued to grow and evolve since then.

As your surrogate partner, I will provide:

  • A caring environment in which to explore and practice aspects of intimacy, desire, sexuality, health, and mutual connection.
  • Collaboration with you in defining needs, values, and goals for our work together.
  • Coordination with your talk therapy clinician to ensure our strategies for making changes and navigating challenges align and progress appropriately.
  • Techniques for understanding your own intimacy needs and ways to address obstacles standing in your way.
  • Skills to practice together to enhance connection, communication, and establish healthy boundaries.
  • Guidance on pleasure-focused sexuality, sensation and emotion awareness, and consent.

Some of life’s best choices demand creativity, curiosity, and courage for a truly fulfilling journey, and having a partner to walk with you—even for a while—can make all the difference.
